Good afternoon Falcon parents!
As you may have already heard, schools in Los Angeles will be starting the school year through a distance learning model and students will work from home. Please rest assured that we at Watts Learning Center Charter Middle School accounted for this possibility, and we have plans in place to ensure that your child has everything they need to get the year started correctly. As the weeks go on, we will be sharing additional information and scheduling time for parent meetings where we can further answer any questions you may have.
The learning of every child is a team effort. Because of this, we ask that you continue to communicate with your child the importance of staying mentally active during the summer and on weekends. Below is a list of resources that our students all have access to:
- Achieve3000.com - This program allows for daily reading and practice articles. All students have accounts, so please reach out if your child is unable to log in.
- tinyurl.com/wlclibrary - Our digital library has several high-interest books for any student to read for free. Have your child look for something they might be interested in reading.
- Kahn Academy - Khan Academy is a free online learning platform where students can practice math and science at any level. Sign your child up and allow them to practice skills from previous years.
- New students also have the entrance tests to complete, so if they have not completed this, please make sure they do so by July 24th.
Overall, your child's success is our number one priority, and we are here to ensure that they have every opportunity to learn now and throughout the year. If you have any questions, please reach out.
